    Also known as Powerplant Engineering, this field focuses on aircraft engines and their associated systems. The primary function of an aircraft engine is to generate power, enabling the aircraft to move forward. Responsibilities in this specialization include:

    Aircraft engine engineers work closely with Airframes Engineers and Avionics Engineers to ensure the overall mechanical safety of the aircraft. A professional in this field must obtain the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License (AMEL – Category ‘C’) from the civil aviation authority. In Kenya, this is granted by KCAA.
