To become a certified Airframes Engineer, one must obtain the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License (AMEL – Category ‘A’) from the respective civil aviation authority. In Kenya, this is regulated by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).

Aircraft engine engineers work closely with Airframes Engineers and Avionics Engineers to ensure the overall mechanical safety of the aircraft.
